| Lesson 1 - How to write a message
1) Open a second browser window and click on one of the Dialogues:
3) In the Web Dialogue, click Write New Message so you can write a practice message introducing yourself - later you can delete this message if you want to. 4) Now you are on the New Message page. It says so in the upper right corner. You are currently logged in as Anonymous. If you have already created your user ID, then type it in and your password, too. If this is the first time for you, make up a good name for yourself and type it in where it says "User ID:". Make up a good password and type it in. Either make the password something very easy to remember, like your dog's name, if you have a dog, or even better write your new password and login name down and put them in your wallet. If this is your first time, then you need to type in your password again and your email address. If you don't have an email address, type in "none". Now you are ready to type in your message and the message subject. Go ahead and do that. It is a good idea to introduce yourself, who you are, and say something about your school. Be sure you filled in the subject as well as the message. 5) Click on the Preview button. Now you are on the Preview page. It says so in the upper right corner. The Preview page let's you look over what you have written before you send the message. It is smart to get into the habit of previewing your messages. 6) Let's assume you found something you wanted to change. So click on your browser's Back <--- button. The Back button takes you back to the page where you wrote your message. Make a change in your message and then press the Send button. 7) Now we are on the Message List. It says Message List in the upper right hand corner. You should see your message at the top of the list. You can tell it is yours because the subject is the same as the subject you just typed, and because in the author column it shows the login name you chose. Ok, now click on the subject of your message. 8) Here we are at your message. Now if you don't like your message, you can easily delete it by clicking the Delete link and then Confirm and your message is gone gone gone. Or if you like your message, you can rate it. Rating your own message is OK. You can give yourself a 4 for interest and a plus 3 for approval if you want to. Top grades. To rate your message, go down the page until you see the green rating box. It is easy to click the rating that you want to give your message. Lesson 2 - How to reply to a message |
